Benefits

High Quality Care

Our care focus is patient centered, ensuring each individual patient's needs are addressed during each pathway of care.  This ensures quality and patient safety. We continually aim to improve the delivery of our service and rigorously audit our practice. As part of our quality improvement process we collect and evaluate patient satisfaction surveys, infection rates, and PROMs (Patient Reported Outcome Measures). These are Government led industry markers of quality and performance.

Teaching Hospital Consultants

All consultants working in our service are NHS Teaching Hospital Consultants. They are all based at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and deliver tertiary referral services in their NHS practice..

Consultant Led Service: Patient Safety

Patients are treated by consultants only. There are no junior doctors involved in the management of patients and no training grade doctors / fellows performing the surgical procedures. This is very important as it is well documented that complication rates are higher when procedures are not performed by consultants.

Ease of Access: Treatment within your local community

Dorset is a large county and journey times can be long and cumbersome for patients living in certain locations. Our care is provided within the community allowing ease of access for local patients. We aim to provide all out-patient consultation and day case procedures in the local community hospitals as well as basic imaging. Patients will only need to travel out of the area for advanced imaging (CT & MRI) and for in-patient procedures (those requiring overnight stay, e.g. joint replacement).

Shorter Waiting Times

Our referral base is over a smaller area than some of the other healthcare providers; we are therefore able to offer shorter waiting times for all aspects of treatment. We comply to the 18 week pathway care of treatment, however in most cases, our treatment pathways will be shorter.
